Llegó el Wetripantu
La salida del sol de este 24 de junio indica el inicio de un nuevo año mapuche, por lo que se celebra el Wetripantu. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
Los mapuches son los pueblos indígenas del centro-sur de Argentina y Chile. Cada solsticio de invierno celebran el comienzo de un nuevo ciclo solar. Tengo entendido que la fecha exacta varía dependiendo del calendario lunar, pero ya está estandarizada la celebración para el 24 de junio. La fiesta se realiza la noche del 23 y la idea es esperar la salida del sol que da inicio al nuevo año. Nada de esperar las 12 de la noche, lo importante es la salida del sol.
Luego de que las hojas de los árboles cayeron y se acaba el otoño, la tierra se renueva y todo comienza a crecer de nuevo. Esa es la razón por la cual se celebra en el solsticio de invierno. Felicidades a las comunidades del sur que comienzan este nuevo ciclo, y ojalá algún día lo incorporemos más en las culturas de Chile y Argentina, donde por alguna razón Halloween es más festejado que el Wetripantu.

Más de dos años después de este lindo post te cuento que hoy escuché en las noticias que hay un parlamentario (ni recuerdo de qué cámara....) y un grupo de secuaces pretendían cambiar el feriado del 12 de Octubre por el 24 de Junio, instaurándolo como el día de los pueblos originarios, además la idea de intercambiarlo por el 12 de Octubre en que "nos descubrieron, por fin nos descubrieron"... Yo feliz con la idea!! Sólo me pregunto qué pasará con mi San Juan, pero como este año ya se celebró en esa fecha una fiesta de chilenidad y costumbres criollas.... lo veo como un buen augurio para la i nterculturalidad :)
Además... yo feliz de esperar la salida del sol en cada nuevo año, jejejeje.
