.Hoy estrenaremos un "spanglish post".
Y como introducción, algunas recomendaciones para los profesionales TI sobre la base de la experiencia.
If you want to succeed in IT business for any position today, you must be fluent in english. My personal opinion is that - at least - you must be able:
- to establish a conference call in full english, ideally with 3 people or more, without support of non verbal signs (that's why travels, videoconferences or physical meetings are NOT a complete test of your real english capabilities)
- to understand any written text in english related with IT. Anyway, it's allowed to use some kind of advice, like a thesaurus or an online dictionary, but just to search for some buzzwords or specific terms.
- to exchange e-mails (formal and informal styles) with minimum external support
Nobody is asking you to be a postmodern Shakespeare. But it is a must for an IT professional. In my experience, specially for executive IT positions in any organization, it's a fundamental advantage.
Let's be clear. It's not only for your career development. It's also for a higher payment or business success.
